Getting Started

Welcome aboard. This guide walks you through your first dive in Saturation Diving on Roblox, from the moment you join a server to the moment you sell your first batch of deep-sea ore. It assumes zero prior experience with the game or with survival-horror loops in general. Read it once end to end, then keep it open on a second screen during your first run.

Before You Launch

Saturation Diving requires the standard Roblox client on PC, Mac, mobile, or console. The place ID is 83942486971826. You can join from the official game page or any Roblox deep link that resolves to that universe. The current beta is online co-op — there is no single-player mode and no offline tutorial.

We recommend a private server for your first two dives. Private servers cost a small Robux fee but let you pause to read guides, experiment with gear, and avoid the queue turbulence of public lobbies. Once you are comfortable with the basics, switch to public servers to test your timing against experienced divers.

The Submarine Lobby

When you load in, you spawn in the submarine cockpit. This is the prep area between dives. Walk around and you will find four stations:

  1. Role terminal (left of the conning tower) — pick Captain, Engineer, Spotter, or Salvager. Each role changes the gear you spawn with. We recommend Engineer for your first run: the +30% mining yield makes the early-game economy forgiving.
  2. Gear locker (right wall) — swap your hazmat suit, oxygen tank, drill, light, and sonar before launch. As a new diver you only own the Standard Dive Shell, the Standard Tank, the Cordless Hammer-Drill, the Single Beam Helmet, and the Pulse Array Mk I. Spend your starter credits on the next-tier oxygen tank first.
  3. Codes terminal — redeem codes (none are active yet — see the Codes hub).
  4. Launch lever (front of the cockpit) — pull this to start the launch countdown. Everyone must be seated before the timer hits zero or the sub leaves without you.

Choosing Your First Dive

The launch console lets you pick a destination zone. There are four zones in the current build:

  • Twilight Reef — 0 to 200m depth, shallow pipes, low entity pressure. Start here.
  • Mid Ridge — 200 to 800m, medium pressure, salvagable wrecks. Move here once you have A-tier gear.
  • Abyssal Hollow — 800 to 3000m, deep murk, hidden ore veins. Requires B-tier gear at minimum.
  • Black Mound — 3000m+, hadal pressure, boss encounters. Endgame only.

For your first dive, pick Twilight Reef. The pipes are close to the sub, the oxygen drain is forgiving, and the entities are passive unless you aggro them.

The Dive Loop

Once you launch, the gameplay loop is:

  1. Descend from the sub through the drop chute. Watch your oxygen meter — it starts draining immediately.
  2. Scan with your sonar to find the nearest pipe cluster or wreck. As Captain you ping the route; as Engineer, Spotter, or Salvager you rely on the pings.
  3. Mine or salvage based on your role. Engineer mines pipes; Salvager opens wrecks; Spotter and Captain support.
  4. Surface before your oxygen hits zero. The return trip takes longer than the descent, so plan accordingly.
  5. Sell at the sub’s cargo bay terminal. Credits are deposited immediately and you can spend them on gear between dives.

The video below walks through the entire first dive from lobby to first sell. Pause whenever you need to mirror a step.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

How long does a single dive take?

A Twilight Reef run takes 8 to 12 minutes for a beginner, 4 to 6 minutes for an experienced diver. Mid Ridge averages 12 to 18 minutes. Abyssal Hollow and Black Mound runs can take 25 to 40 minutes.

Can I switch roles mid-dive?

No. Roles are locked at the lobby terminal and persist for the duration of the dive. You can switch between runs in the next lobby phase.

What happens if my oxygen runs out?

You black out and your diver is teleported back to the sub. You lose any ore you were carrying, but you do not lose equipped gear or credits.

Should I play public or private for my first run?

Private. Public lobbies have experienced divers who skip the slow pipe clusters and rush into mid-tier zones. You will learn the basics faster in a private server.
