Saturation Diving Best-in-Slot Gear Tier List
Ranked drills, hazmat suits, oxygen tanks, lights, sonar, and perk tracks — refreshed after every patch.
This tier list is maintained by the Saturation Diving community council and updated within 24 hours of every patch. We rank every piece of gear across S through C tier based on raw performance at high pressure, synergy with the current Captain / Engineer / Spotter / Salvager meta, and credit-efficiency.
How to read this list. S-tier picks are best-in-slot at their role. A-tier picks are excellent and sometimes replace S-tier for specific roles. B-tier picks are solid budget options. C-tier picks are outclassed — only use them in the first hour of a fresh save.
Drills
| Tier | Drill | Why |
|---|---|---|
| S | Hydraulic Core-Bit | Best raw ore-per-second, plus a hidden pressure-bonus on pipes in Black Mound. |
| S | Cordless Hammer-Drill | The only viable drill on low-oxygen Salvager builds. Less ore-per-second but no air penalty. |
| A | Twin-Core Hammer | Strong mid-game bridge. Cheap to tier up, falls off after level 40. |
| B | Pneumatic Pickaxe | Decent starter. Outclassed once you can afford the Hammer-Drill. |
| C | Manual Crank Drill | Tutorial-only. Do not invest credits past level 5. |
Hazmat Suits
| Tier | Suit | Why |
|---|---|---|
| S | Triton Mark VII | The only suit with built-in pressure-cap of 4.2 atmospheres. Required for Black Mound. |
| A | Reefwalker IV | Best mid-tier suit. +18% air efficiency, only falls behind Triton on Hadal zones. |
| A | Abyssal Plate | New from August patch. Strong armor, weaker air efficiency than Reefwalker. |
| B | Salvaged Wetsuit | Free starter. Replace by level 15. |
| C | Patched Dive Skin | Tutorial cosmetic. Do not use past Twilight reef. |
Oxygen Tanks
| Tier | Tank | Why |
|---|---|---|
| S | Cryo Helix Tank | Doubles effective oxygen time. The single biggest upgrade any Captain build can take. |
| A | Twin Reserve | Two small tanks in one slot. Loses to Cryo Helix on raw time, but better for solo Salvagers. |
| B | Standard Tank | Serviceable, no perks. Skip if you can afford Twin Reserve. |
| C | Sample Tank | Free, 60-second capacity. Tutorial only. |
Lights
| Tier | Light | Why |
|---|---|---|
| S | Photon Flood Array | Wide cone, battery-free recharge. The Captain/Spotter default. |
| A | Dual Beam Helmet | Tight cone, twice the throw. Best for Spotter sniping. |
| A | Salvaged Glowstick | Cheap, infinite battery, low output. The under-budget pick for early Salvagers. |
| C | Hand Flashlight | Tutorial. Replace immediately. |
Sonar Tracks
| Tier | Sonar | Why |
|---|---|---|
| S | Pulse Array Mk III | Reveals ore through three walls, best entity ping radius. Captain default. |
| A | Echo Tracker | Spotter-only, level 30 unlock. Best detection cone, no ore reveal. |
| A | Pulse Array Mk II | Cheaper Mk II, two walls of ore reveal. Good Captain budget. |
| B | Pulse Array Mk I | One wall. Only viable for the first five levels. |
Perk Tracks
| Tier | Track | Why |
|---|---|---|
| S | Pressure Stability | Reduces incoming pressure damage by 40% at max. Mandatory for Hadal zones. |
| S | Salvage Multiplier | Salvager-only, doubles rare loot. The whole reason to play Salvager. |
| A | Drill Efficiency | +25% ore-per-second. Mandatory for any Engineer build. |
| A | Detection Radius | +35% sonar cone. Mandatory for Spotter. |
| B | Recharge Speed | Decent for Captain. Skippable on Salvager. |
| B | Quick-Swap | Salvager-only niche. Mandatory only for Black Mound speedrun routes. |
| C | Crank Bonus | Removed in the July 2026 rework. Legacy mention only. |
